If you receive a message from the decode program that the file is not encoded or you get a "funny" file name, please review the Decode Shell Extension FAQ before you write us. The FAQ sections on AOL mail and standard POP3 mail problems will be useful.

Briefly, our recommendations for problem attachments are:

• Make sure your correspondent has their email program set to send "plain text" messages. "Rich text" or "html text" messages often cause problems when the receiver's email program is of a different brand from the sender's.
• Ask your correspondent to send you only one attachment per message.

Also, please note that Decode Shell Extension, Funduc Explorer Extensions, and Directory Toolkit have nothing to do with whether or not you can actually do something with the file(s) that were sent to you. If you double click on a decode file and get an "Open with...." message or a "Windows cannot find program ..." type of message it is necessary for you to write your correspondent and ask them what you need to open the files they sent you. You must have a program installed on your computer that is suitable for what was sent to you. Your correspondent is the best one to ask about this.
